The month of August, you know, it was full of events and I had the opportunity to visit some wonderful exhibits, but also wonderful museums, such as the Doge's Palace in Venice.
Doge's Palace has Venice history written in its walls. It is Amazing! Full of wonderful works, and magnificent in architecture. I could write a blog just to tell you about this amazing building and the history that preserves. The thing that intrigued me was the figure of the doge and the great attention that the Venetians had to avoid abuse of power. Doge was no more than a noble among nobles. Very current is not it?
The public life of the Doge could be compared to a liturgy: he was necessarily present at Repubblic ceremonies, embodying the high power of Venice as an actor.
In many masterpieces, witch I admired at the Doges's Palace, the posture of the Doge, devotedly kneeling before the lion of St Mark, effectively clarifies his first duty, that of serving the republic.


Il mese di agosto, lo sapete, è stato ricco di appuntamenti e ho avuto la possibilità di visitare alcune meravigliose esposizioni, ma anche meravigliosi musei, come il Palazzo Ducale a Venezia.
Palazzo Ducale riproduce la storia di Venezia sulle sue pareti. E' incredibile! Ricco di opere meravigliose, e grandioso nelle architetture. Potrei scrivere un blog intero solamente per parlarvi di questo straordinario edificio e della storia che conserva. La cosa che più mi ha incuriosita è stata la figura del doge e la grande attenzione che i veneziani avevano per evitare abusi di potere. Il Doge non era che un nobile tra i nobili. Molto attuale non trovate?
La vita pubblica del Doge potrebbe essere paragonata ad una liturgia: egli partecipa necessariamente alle cerimonie della Repubblica, rappresentando la potenza di Venezia come farebbe un attore.
In molti capolavori, che ho ammirato a Palazzo Ducale, la postura del Doge, devotamente inginocchiato davanti al leone di San Marco, chiarisce il suo principale dovere, ovvero servire la Repubblica.

Maramotti Collection:
The history, and the paintings, evoked by van Ofen in these new canvases relates to the analogies that have linked Germany and Italy during the second half of the 19^th century, namely to the parallelism between the two countries in their process of nation building. In the works of Germania und Italia, the artist draws on both German and Italian 19^th century pictures or their contemporary reproductions. The historical images evolve into ghostly structures where characters and objects are transcribed as shapes and colours, as geometry and gesture, as space and imagination.

La storia che van Ofen evoca in questi nuovi quadri è quella dei legami e delle analogie che hanno accomunato Germania e Italia; o meglio, del parallelismo che ha accompagnato i due paesi durante la seconda metà dell'Ottocento nel loro processo di formazione nazionale. Nelle opere che costituiscono Germania und Italia, l'artista si rifà a quadri dell'Ottocento tedeschi e italiani o a riproduzioni d'epoca di tali quadri. Il quadro storico si trasforma in una struttura fantasmica, in cui personaggi e oggetti vengono trascritti come forma e colore, come geometria e gesto, come spazio e immaginazione.

The work of Beatrice Pediconi is charged with mystery and amazement, and the gesture she performs is no less capable of generation than attuned to capturing and accepting the unexpected: advance and retreat, action and perception.
Her work bears witness to the possibility of another form of painting: painting that “mutates” not on the canvas, but in water, and with results that the artist can only partly control.
The new work now realized for the Maramotti Collection is entitled 9’/ Unlimited and presents still further developments. In addition to accepting the challenge of polaroid photography and large-scale images taken with a Large Format View Camera in the course of a true and proper performative process that devolves on a spirit of alchemy and its potential photographic registration, the artist has also created an environment, a space that becomes a vessel which the visitor is invited to enter.


C’è mistero e stupore nell’opera di Beatrice Pediconi, e nel suo gesto capacità generatrice e attitudine ad accogliere l’imprevisto: avanzare e ritirarsi, agire e percepire.
Un’evidenza di come sia possibile fare un altro tipo di pittura, pittura “mutante” non sulla tela, ma nell’acqua, con esiti solo parzialmente controllabili dall’artista.
Il nuovo lavoro realizzato per la Collezione Maramotti dal titolo 9’/ Unlimited costituisce un ulteriore sviluppo in cui l’artista si misura non soltanto con l’uso della polaroid o con scatti di grande formato realizzati con banco ottico durante un vero e proprio processo performativo di sapore alchemico e il suo potenziale congelamento fotografico, ma realizza un ambiente, un luogo che diviene una sorta di navicella che accoglie il visitatore.

Frédéric Soulacroix (1858 - 1933) is a French-Italian painter. By the age of 15 years, in 1873, Soulacroix entered the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence and he was admitted to its School of Painting. He remained in Florence for many years painting often romantic genre. 
The works of Soulacroix are romantic and refined. The details are meticulous and in fact I already dedicated a post to one of his own work because I had hit its accuracy.


Frédéric Soulacroix (1858 - 1933) è un pittore Italo-Francese. Soulacroix  all'età di 15 anni, nel 1873 entrò all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze e ammesso alla sua scuola di pittura. E 'rimasto a Firenze per molti anni dipingendo spesso opere di genere romantico.
Le opere di Soulacroix sono romantiche e raffinate. I dettagli sono minuziosi e infatti ho già dedicato un post ad una sua opera proprio perchè mi aveva colpito la sua precisione.
